Accuweather is a lot like weather underground, but with less data and fewer maps. The stuff they do put out is great though, and the site is less cluttered which makes it a little easier to find what you're looking for.

This is just a neat index of weather sites compiled by the U of M.

Every year since I can remember, my mother would get the Old Farmers' almanac for Christmas. She doesn't exactly swear by it, but is of the impression that it gives a good overview of what to expect from a given years' seasons and average weather. Here is the wiki on the Almanac and weather, they have an interesting method of prediction, and I plan on bringing in occasional references to the Almanac evaluating it's predictions.

I can't believe that this wasn't the first link I posted. There is nothing fancy about it, you won't find weather maps or predictions for well into the week or traffic conditions, or any of that stuff. What you will find is a small, simple, very user-friendly page that gives you the conditions right in Eau Claire, WI. On the UWEC website, information is taken from weather underground and the basics find their way onto the website.

The National Weather Service was set up in 1870 and is one of the six agencies which comprise the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Although the name may imply otherwise, these folks don't control the weather, they just tell us about it. The site is pretty basic, but is run by the folks who collect the data so is as trustworthy as they come.

UNISYS seems to be some sort of business-technology or IT based corporation, focused on networking and data management. They have an amazing site which brings me my favorite weather maps, the surface data maps.

Weather Underground is probably my second favorite weather service because of its user-friendly but detailed data. It is very easy to access, its maps are simple and a quick glance will give all the information that you would look for. While the NOAA site and UNISYS perhaps provide more basic data, wunderground has fun and excellent features in its history and photos sections, as well as links to some interesting weather blogs. I doubt that this will end up there.
